A seamstress in Egbelu Ozodo Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government area of Rivers State, Mrs Christy Nwabueze, says she makes an average of #5000 naira daily producing nose mask in her community.
Mrs Nwabueze’s  statement came on the heels of the sensitization and community engagement on the prevention of covid 19 carried out in her community by the Rivers State Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE)Team.
Speaking in a telephone interview, Nwabueze thanked UNICEF and the State Government for the community engagement which she said is not only an eye-opener, which  has brought the implication of COVID-19 infection closer to her people, but has also improved her economic life .
She expressed willingness to train other members of her “community, especially teenagers, in the skill of nose mask production for them to be meaningfully engaged and self-reliant while awaiting the resumption of schools”.
She solicited for sponsorship to actualized her plans.
Earlier, the leader of the Community, Chief Innocent Eze, expressed gratitude to the RCCE team for the sensitization on Coronavirus and promised to form community Rapid Response Team (RRT).
He further said he would relate the preventive message of hand washing, wearing of nose mask and social distancing to other members of his community.
